The World Research & Innovation Convention on Engineering & Technology (WRICET2020) will be held in Putrajaya, Malaysia from October 20th – 21st, 2020. The WRICET2020 is organized by Malaysian Society for Engineering and Technology (MySET) with the support of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Islamic Countries (FEIIC) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
Innovation is the driver for change, and in this day and age where sustainability goals are paramount, innovation has become more important than ever before. The 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) is an example of the conscious efforts of mankind to become better stewards of this earth. It serves as a good guide to humanity’s most basic needs which require our immediate attention and actions. Take the global movement to minimize the use of single-use plastics for example. Without innovations like metal and paper straws as well as paper-based containers, it would be difficult to change status quo. Although not rocket science, even small yet conscious innovations could potentially have a huge impact. Furthermore, what may look simple, may actually be interdisciplinary efforts of experts from various backgrounds. WRICET2020 addresses the theme, ‘Conscious Innovation’, where all types of innovations from all major disciplines of engineering and technology, which consciously contribute towards addressing SDGs will be presented. The 2-day conference serves as a useful platform for researchers, students, and industrial players to showcase their recent findings and developments, as well as for academic discourse and networking.
