1-Day Training Route to Professional and Career Excellence

To provide participants (working staff/post graduates) with guidance and insights in achieving Professional Registration status with various Councils.



Current unfavorable economy as impacted by BOTH National and International woes has made many diligent employees in numerous industries retrenched and stranded hopelessly. This unfortunate situation is wide spread and affects individuals regardless of work position, industry, profession and gender. Most worrisome of all is that, past academic achievements and employee performance are of no relevance in most retrenchment exercise. In-depth expertise of ones job maybe inapplicable in another industry or sector, thus compounding individuals’ employ-ability. Previously enjoyed high salaries and remuneration increases reluctance from employers to engage these well-disciplined and knowledgeable potentials. Negative repercussion from the O & G industry is already affecting the closest “industry cousin” i.e the Maritime Industry, Aviation, Manufacturing, and all others in general. What can be done to get back on track or similarly avoid such undesirable situation for any individual?

A change in mind-set and unprecedented initiative is needed to overcome the hopelessness of unemployment, bearing in mind that, past school grades and job appraisals have minimal effect to keep one in employment!

Graduating students or those of lower qualification are even more challenged with surplus manpower in the market place.

Speakers attempts to share alternative route and perspectives, on what can be achieved through Professional Registration (Authorities /Councils) and Professional Memberships with Learned Institutions (locally and internationally) to widen network, professional recognition, relevance and eventually opportunity to plod on in one’s career journey. Past “Knowledge, Skill and Attitude” needs to be revisited and synergised for desired success.

1. Ir Che Zaid Bin Zakaria PEng, CMarEng, MIEM, MIMarEST, MMySET

Ir Zaid is actively involved in human capital training using sailing and yachting activities as training platform.

He believes in promoting effective work-life balance, especially health and family bonding aspects as an important criteria in career development and enhancing ones professional journey.

Academically, Ir Zaid holds a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering Degree (USM) and Post Graduate Certificate in Offshore Project Management. Currently, he’s pursuing his Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering, UPM. With over 12 years of extensive experienced in marine industry, his technical skills are significantly recognised.

Ir Zaid is also a Professional Engineer (PEng) with practicing certificate, Corporate Member of IEM, Chartered Marine Engineer (CMarEng) of The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (UK), Member of Malaysia Society for Engineering & Technology.

In contributing to nation building, Ir Zaid is Panel Evaluator - Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC) under the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).


2. Eur Ing YEO Cheng Kwan CEng (UK), CMgr (UK), PEng (BEM), FRINA, FCMI, MBA (UM), Lt Cdr (Ret)

YEO is a highly regarded Speaker, career development consultant and life skills mentor. He has indepth understanding of human behavior; how the mind is conditioned for either success or failure, and uses his skills to help others achieve truly inspiring results.

He delivers presentations on life-changing subjects such as career excellence and signature CPD Seminar for Oil & Gas personnel. An avid participant of live Seminars by International motivational and business gurus e.g. of Anthony Robbins, Robert Kiyosaki, Les Brown and a graduate of the exclusive Quantum Leap Program© by Peak Potentials Training USA.

Currently embarking on an innovative and exciting business venture to change mind-sets, by optimizing exclusive yachts and marina venues, as training platforms, to inculcate sustainable experiential transformation in Corporate Leadership and Management modules.

He draws on 38 years of experience, starting as a Naval Recruit (retired as Commissioned Officer), Chartered Marine Engineer (CEng), Chartered Manager (CMgr), Naval Training Instructor, Chief Engineer Missile Corvette, A/Director QHSE (Star Cruises) to Marine Compliance/ Quality Manager (Oil & Gas). Yeo has extensive experience in Assets Integrity Management, Planned Maintenance Systems and Lead Auditor for numerous Management Systems.

In his passion to contribute towards the profession via Continuous Professional Development (CPD), he is actively involved as Principal Interviewer for Chartered Engineers (Engineering Council, UK), O & G Industry Expert (Department of Skills Development Malaysia), Competency Professional Examination Council Member (Board of Engineers, Malaysia) and Member of the Advisory Panel to University Malaysia Terengganu (Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture) and Adjunct Lecturer, University Technology PETRONAS.

Ir. Yeo was past Vice Chairman of Malaysia Joint Branch “RINA & IMarEST” (2017) and currently Board Member (Secretary), Chartered Management Institute (UK), in Malaysia. Both of these roles, are instrumental into encouraging fellow professionals to practice Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and support the development of others, regardless of professional level, engineering discipline or management application. He’s also a member of the Malaysia Oil and Gas Services Council (MOGSC), Malaysia Oil and Gas Engineering Council (MOGEC) and Council Member of Sustainable Business Network Association (SustNet, Malaysia).
