The Malaysian Quality Evaluation System (MyQUEST) for Private Colleges was introduced by the Ministry of Higher Education in 2009. It has been identified as one of the frameworks to evaluate and assign quality and performance ratings for private colleges. The MyQUEST for private colleges has been administered to private colleges for a total of three cycles of evaluation and rating processes since its first launch in 2011. Ratings generated by MyQUEST form an important indicator and reference for decision making to interested parties. An important activity in the Empowered Governance shift, which is a long term aspiration, is the requirement of Private Higher Education Institutions is to participate in the enhanced national quality assurance frameworks like SETARA and MyQUEST. In particular the role of MyQUEST is important and crucial to PHEIs’ relevance and sustainability and therefore PHEIs must strive to be competitive and perform in the MyQUEST evaluation and rating exercise.

|Prof. Ir. Megat Johari is the Head of the Ecological Engineering Research Laboratory at Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) since 2011. He was the founding Dean of MJIIT (2011-2014) before becoming the Director of the Centre for Quality and Risk Management at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur campus (2014-2017).
Prof. Ir. Megat Johari started his career Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 1982 and had served as Head of Department of Civil Engineering and Head of Quality Assurance at the Faculty of Engineering prior to joining the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) in 2007 for four years. He was the founding Director of the Engineering Accreditation Department (now known as Accreditation Department) at the BEM. Currently he is a Board member, Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC) member, Associate Director (International Affairs) of Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC), and chairing the Examination and Qualification Committee at the BEM. He is also leading the working committee for Sydney and Dublin Accords, tasked by the ETAC of the BEM.
His involvement in professional societies includes as Deputy President to Malaysian Society for Engineering & Technology (MySET) and Deputy President of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Islamic Countries (FEIIC) and former Vice-President of Institution of Engineers Malaysia. With his academic background and trained as lead auditor for quality and environment management systems, he had conducted numerous training programmes on accreditation and outcome based education as well as quality and environmental management systems both locally and overseas. He has published over 300 research and academic papers in the field of environmental engineering and engineering education. He is also engaged by the Ministry of Higher Education in auditing for Research University and High Centre of Excellence, MyQUEST, MySpeK, Polyrate and the latest SETARA2017, following the involvement in developing these rating tools.
